Introduction
The history of this blog has been nothing short of magical to observe! I started it a little over 4 years ago as a growth hack for my first startup and it was called “Protocol Weekly” where I’d cover what the latest Ethereum protocols were doing with a short little status update. At the start it was more of a way for me to reach out to projects which I wanted to get in touch with (goal achieved) but then I started adding more of a personal touch to all the updates I received. This was inspired from an old newsletter called Proof of Work by Eric Meltzer (shoutout to you if you’re reading this)!
From that point it evolved to be more about DeFi and hence I rebranded the newsletter to what was once known as “Protocol Weekly” to “DeFi Weekly” in late 2019 — just before DeFi popped off. Since that time, I’ve written over tens of articles and pieces covering the history of how DeFi has evolved and used it to improve my understanding of the market for building and investing. What made my pieces unique was that I can write about these topics from a place of experience rather than just as a pure content creator or investor who has a theoretical understanding.
Moving Foward
Over the past year it’s become clear that crypto is reaching mainstream adoption in so many verticals that it’s wild to see the dream come true! At the same time the number of things that I’ve seen and experienced as a builder, investor and market participant has expanded significantly. Through this, I’ve sometimes found myself being constricted to writing only about DeFi when I’d really love to write about far more topics such as:
Decentralised reputation & identity
My experience as a protocol founder
Irrationalities about the market and the mass delusion that sweeps it
Where the future of certain trends might be heading towards
Personal philosophy that I find has sharpened my mental models for how crypto works
That’s only just the start but hopefully you get the idea that there’s so much more that I’d love to write about and want to give myself the freedom and self expression to do so.
Some pieces will be long, others will be short. The thing which will remain is the consistency and frequency at which I post. My personal goal is to still post content weekly with the aim to ramp up with content covering more diverse aspects of crypto.
In closing, thank you to everyone who has been a reader so far - your support makes writing worth it.
I’m especially excited for what the future of this newsletter holds!
