I just use focus mode + the iOS scheduled summary feature for notifications, with my first notification of the morning not until 9am, then 12, 3, 6. Then put most notifications into those summaries instead of direct, and turn off any notifications I don’t really need.

This way none of the notifications show up in real time. Has been a game changer, no second phone needed.

Love this. I've been thinking the same thing: how to systemically reduce morning & night phone usage at the bed. Will give this a go

You can also choose to not bring devices into the bedroom. The bedroom should be a sanctuary for sleep and recovery. Not signals.
